Part-Time Experienced Baker
Monday–Thursday | South Portland, Maine
Cape Whoopies, Maine’s Gourmet Whoopie Pie, is looking for an experienced part-time baker to join our production team Monday through Thursday.
Hourly Pay: Starting at $18/hour
Benefits: Paid Time Off
Shift: We finish daily by 2pm
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and understands proper kitchen safety, organization, and professional kitchen practices. Commercial baking or comparable professional kitchen experience is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
Monday through Wednesday, you’ll be part of our regular whoopie pie production. On Thursdays, your responsibilities will include preparing 80-quart batches of batters and fillings and working with an 80-quart Hobart mixer.
The position also involves:
- Accurately weighing large volumes of ingredients
- Monitoring and maintaining ingredient inventory
- Following recipes and production procedures consistently
- Keeping your workspace clean, neat, and organized
- Working efficiently as part of our production team
What We’re Looking For
The right person will:
- Have professional baking or commercial kitchen experience
- Be comfortable weighing and working with large quantities of ingredients
- Understand commercial kitchen safety and proper kitchen practices
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Be methodical, organized, neat, and dependable
- Be comfortable with the physical and manual aspects of production
- Be able to multitask while maintaining accuracy and consistency
- Bring a positive attitude and be a great team player
ServSafe certification is strongly encouraged.
Cape Whoopies is not a high-stress kitchen environment, but this is an active, hands-on production position that requires physical work, efficiency, and attention to detail.
