Grand Opening Planned for Cape Whoopies and Rwanda Bean Company's New Whoopie Pie Bakery and Flagship Coffee Shop in South Portland, Saturday, June 30, 2018
Public Being Asked to Name a NEW Cape Whoopies Flavor
South Portland, Maine - June 11, 2018. One of Maine's newest business partnerships is inviting the public to attend a Grand Opening of it's South Portland whoopie pie bakery and coffee shop Saturday, June 30th. The special celebration and ribbon cutting will begin at 9:30 a.m. with South Portland Mayor Linda Cohen and other special guests and friends. Throughout the day there will be special tastings and offerings of Cape Whoopies gourmet pies and Rwanda Bean Company hot coffees and nitro cold brew coffee. The public will be asked to name a new Cape Whoopies flavor.
"We have been overwhelmed by the support of so many people since our soft opening a few weeks ago, " said Cape Whoopies founder Marcia Wiggins. "Our customers shared their thoughts and ideas and Mike and I and our hard-working crews listened. We have grown so much already, thanks to our new and loyal customers."
May 19th, Cape Whoopies, and Rwanda Bean Company announced their partnership with a soft opening of a state of the art bakery, coffee shop and cold-brewing facility at 185 Cottage Road in South Portland.
"There is always a bit of the unknown when you start a new business," said Rwanda Bean Company co-founder Mike Mwenedata, "We have put our heart and soul into creating something special for our neighbors and friends. This is just the beginning."
Marcia Wiggins started her gourmet whoopie pie baking company in her Cape Elizabeth home in January 2013 and in a couple of years moved her production line to Portland's Fork Food Lab. That is where she started talks of collaborating with Ben Graffius, founder of White Cap Cold Brew Coffee and Mwenedata, founder of Rwanda Bean, a Portland coffee company. The rest is now history - Cape Whoopies and Rwanda Bean Company created a new partnership.
The doors at the coffee and whoopie pie shop will open at the regular 6:00 am time on the day of Grand Opening. There will be raffles, contests, prizes, balloons and more after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
